THE NEED FOR SPEED.
(Blog - 12-06-2018)
It has been 8 months since my last post on here; must try harder! I had a bit of a gap where I didnt get much chance to get much done but I have been busy working on the site the last couple months but didnt put a blog post in. ;-/
The title should more accurately read "a need for ease"... I have been busy creating scripts that make it a lot easier for me to upload content to the site. I can now filter out the pictures I want and with the click of a button a script will resize, compress, rename, watermark, and remove exif data then replace it with mine. It also uploads a temporary page which contains just the name of the flora and the pictures. This means a few things; I can get pages up a lot quicker and come back to complete the data at a later date. I can hopefully start to get videos made of bushcraft stuff, which is what I started the site for. Also, the picture quality is now better. The files are bigger but with the majority of the UK on fast broadband I think this is the right decision. (These are the pictures with the solid grey watermark.)
I think I should take the opportunity to appologise for the 'cookies'/GDPR pop up. The only thing this site uses cookies for is to track how many people use the site. Just so I can see if its worth me continuing to update the site or take it offline. As mention in earlier blogs I only started the 'site' for more of a database for myself as I was learning and uploaded it as it was in a format for web. Im happy to report that site visits are steadily increasing and I still do not have a great deal of content so thats a good thing. I am considering removing my current reporting method to stop the use of cookies, meaning I can remove the banner.
Theres 1 new complete page - Horse Chestnut, along with a few temporary pages with just the images here - Holly, Bluebell, and Dandelion.
Theres also a tree Im not 100% on if you could help? Or is it a flower? Dog Rose? Take a look and drop me an email if you know please - Unknown Tree.
Muchos gracias.
