Overview
Green alkanet or evergreen bugloss is the only species in the genus Pentaglottis. There are other species known as Alkanet but not in the same genus. The 'evergreen' part of everygreen bugloss is the reason its called 'green' alkanet, even though the flowers are blue. It isnt truley evergreen but it starts to grow leaves early in the spring and stay until late summer.
Found growing in hedgerows or the edges of woodlands.
It contains alkaloids, that damage the liver.
Not many uses for this one but you may well see it about.

Flowers - Blue with a white centre. Stem - Covered in small hairs Leaves - Oval to a point. Hairy. Veined. Height - Up to 65cm Distribution - Common place in lower alltitudes over Europe.
